Postdoctoral research associate
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Rice University
Dr. Leo Elworth is a postdoctoral fellow for the National Library of Medicine (NLM) Training Program in Biomedical Informatics and Data Science. Leo received his PhD in computer science from Rice University, advised by Dr. Luay Nakhleh, working on statistical modeling of DNA sequence evolution. Afterwards, he spent two years in the lab of Dr. Todd Treangen, where he worked on biosecurity, metagenomics, and infectious disease. As an NLM fellow, Leo is now focusing on studying infectious diseases and how we can predict their spread through wastewater.
